Green Building Systems Certificate

This program provides students with knowledge and skills needed for entry-level positions in the green building construction industry. Students focus on computer-aided drafting and modeling, traditional construction skills and an emphasis on “green” practices to provide foundational learning that incorporates technology and sustainability into applied vocational skills. During completion of the program of study, students must gain employment in the construction field and incorporate their learning in “hands-on” practice. A successful completer will be qualified to gain employment as both an entry-level office and field technician. Certificate eligible for Financial Aid.

Program Learning Outcomes


Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Create, interpret and analyze construction documents related to residential construction, documents related to building and improvement projects using conventional and computer-aided modeling methods.
  • Identify and explain fundamental “green building” and sustainability strategies in relationship to construction projects.
  • Explain and illustrate building methods and components, especially those that have improvable environmental impact.
  • Apply practical skills and knowledge while working on residential construction projects.
