The Associate in Science in General Studies degree is intended to parallel the first two years of a Bachelor of Science degree and is composed of general education courses and courses focused in the sciences. If students have already chosen their transfer institutions, selection of program courses should be based on the degree requirements of those institutions. Students must work closely with their transfer institutions and their SFCC advisors to ensure the best transition to four-year schools.

Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Formulate hypotheses used in scientific inquiry.
- Test hypotheses experimentally using a variety of techniques.
- Solve problems in science conceptually and quantitatively.
- Demonstrate knowledge of concepts and information in science.
General Education Requirements: (33 Credits Min.)
Communications (9 Credits)
Mathematics (7 Credits min.)
(choose two MATH courses, MATH 1220 or higher)
Laboratory Science (4 Credits)
Social/Behavioral Sciences (3-6 Credits)
Creative and Fine Arts (3-6 Credits)
Humanities (3-6 Credits)
The combined total of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Humanities and Creative and Fine Arts areas should equal 12 credit hours.
Health and Wellness (1 Credit)
Program Requirements: (28 Credits)
Students may choose from the following or select courses in consultation with their departmental advisor. Students must work closely with their departmental advisor to select courses appropriate for their transfer institution.
