MATT 160 - Introduction to Computer Numeric Control Lathes


Credits: 2

Introduction to the use of a Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Lathe. Students make selected components from prints, the quality of which is verified using methods learned in MATT 113. Topics include safety, machine controls, operation, and maintenance of a CNC lathe, RS-274 programming language, conversational programming, and project planning. This course satisfies American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) requrements for machinists.

Prerequisite(s): MATT 113  and MATT 114  and MATT 116 .

One lecture hour, two lab hours.
