HMSV 2460 - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Diagnosis and Treatment

[Previously offered as: HUSV 285] An exploration of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) diagnosis, treatment and recovery. This course will examine contributing factors to the development of PTSD including exposure to natural disasters, abuse, bullying, and violence, emigrations under duress; persecution and/or political unrest, terrorism and war. In addition, protective factors such as familial and social support, community networks, and the role of spirituality will be explored. Acute traumatic stress reactions will be differentiated from PTSD. 

Prerequisite(s): ENGL 109 .
