Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling Certificate

This certificate provides the academic requirements toward becoming a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC) in New Mexico. A minimum of an Associate’s degree in a social/behavioral science AND specified supervised clinical hours are REQUIRED to be eligible for this licensure. For information about the license, contact the NM Counseling and Therapy Practice Board: www.rld.state.nm.us. Certificate eligible for Financial Aid.

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Evaluate biopsychosocial functioning and appropriate referral protocols.
  • Identify the full range of treatment needs from assessment to continuing care planning.
  • Describe current best practices for treating addictions.
  • Identify the biopsychosocial causes and progression of addiction disorders.
