Biofuels Certificate

This certificate provides students with the skills required to work in the biofuels industry or create their own biofuels business. The emphasis of this program will be on non-food-sourced feedstocks such as algae and native plants. Knowledge acquired prepares students for jobs as plant technicians, plant managers, laboratory technicians, sales managers, public relations and outreach professionals, process coordinators and/or business owners/managers. Certificate eligible for Financial Aid.

Program Learning Outcomes


Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate competency in nationally accredited construction safety standards.
  • Identify wasteful practices and recommend sustainable alternatives.
  • Describe the function of biofuels production systems.
  • Operate and maintain small-scale biofuel production systems.
  • Apply laboratory skills in designing a plan for a small-scale vertically integrated biofuels production facility.
