This program is designed for students who intend to pursue a bachelor’s degree in computer science. It provides students with general education requirements and rigorous courses in software design and programming. Students must work closely with their transfer institution and their SFCC adviser to ensure the best transition to four-year schools.

Program Learning Outcomes


Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Create desktop, web, and real-time applications that solve problems using programming languages, compilers, integrated development environments, and other software development tools.
  • Derive mathematical algorithms for describing real-world problems, and apply the algorithms using software to solve the problems.
  • Apply operating systems tools to manage information systems.
  • Install, update, and configure software and hardware components.
  • Identify, analyze, and apply a variety of network protocols to manage network architectures, and perform routine network administrative tasks.
  • Apply software tools and best practices to secure an organization’s data.
  • Apply ethical frameworks to analyze privacy, accessibility, and intellectual property issues

Students who do not place into MATH 1510  must take appropriate MATH prerequisites

Social/Behavioral Sciences (3-6 Credits)


Creative and Fine Arts (3-6 Credits)


Humanities (3-6 Credits)


The combined total of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Humanities and Creative and Fine Arts areas should equal 12 credit hours.
