The Associate of Arts in Film degree is intended for students seeking transfer to four-year colleges or universities. Students acquire the aesthetic and technical filmmaking skills to work individually or as part of a team while obtaining general education requirements. Students are encouraged to begin working with a film program advisor their first semester.

Program Learning Outcomes


Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Create film or digital media
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the vocabulary of film or digital art
  • Demonstrate proficiency with the tools and technology of filmmaking or digital art
  • Apply creative process techniques in synthesizing information, problem-solving, and critical thinking
  • Use media to respond to a diverse range of audiences, situations, and texts

General Education Requirements: (32 Credits Min.)


Mathematics (3-7 Credits Min.)


Laboratory Science (4-8 Credits)


The combined total of Mathematics and Laboratory Science areas should equal a minimum of 10 credits.

Social/Behavioral Sciences (3 Credits)


Humanities (3-6 Credits)


Creative and Fine Arts (3 Credits)


The combined total of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Humanities, and Creative and Fine Arts areas should equal 12 credit hours.

Health and Wellness (1 Credit)
