This program prepares students for entry-level positions in residential remodel and building construction industries. This certificate provides hands-on instruction in the areas of construction safety, methods, materials, blueprint reading, and trades math skills.
Through hands-on learning, you’ll cover many aspects of home construction, including project management, safety procedures, use of building materials, framing, weather proofing, and many other topics. In addition, you can learn how to maintain an existing home and buildings operations.

Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to: - Apply the basic procedures for installing structures and fixtures, such as windows and molding.
- Demonstrate the procedures for constructing building frameworks, including walls, floors, and door frames.
- Discuss safe practices for using ladders, ladder jacks, trestles, horses, and power tools.
- Successfully methods for weather proofing and insulating an existing home or building.
- Compare and contrast different grades and sizes of lumber, engineered lumber products, and commonly used fasteners.
