This program is for students who wish to transfer to a four-year institution and obtain a bachelor’s degree in psychology. It includes transferable general education requirements as well as psychology courses. These courses are designed to give students a basic foundation in psychology as well as transfer as introductory-level classes at a four-year institution. Students must work closely with their transfer institutions and their SFCC advisors to ensure the best transition to four-year schools.

Program Learning Outcomes


Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Recognize, assess and integrate the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings and historical trends in psychology.
  • Define and apply basic research methods in psychology, including research design, data analysis and interpretation.
  • Identify, examine and utilize the scientific approach to solve problems related to behavioral and mental processes.
  • Find coherence among and attribute psychological principles to interpersonal, social and organizational issues.
  • Evaluate evidence, interpret ambiguity and model the ethics and values that are the underpinnings of psychology.
