This program allows students to develop a degree plan with an emphasis in the biological sciences. Students must work closely with their transfer institutions and their SFCC advisers to ensure the best transition to four-year schools.

Program Learning Outcomes


Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Formulate hypotheses used in scientific inquiry.
  • Solve scientific problems experimentally, conceptually and quantitatively.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of concepts and information in the life sciences.
  • Interpret and explain processes in living organisms from the molecular to the ecological scale.
  • Apply evolutionary theory to biological problems.

General Education Requirements: (34 Credits)


Mathematics (4 Credits)


Social/Behavioral Sciences (3-6 Credits)


Creative and Fine Arts (3-6 Credits)


Humanities (3-6 Credits)


The combined total of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Humanities and Creative Fine Arts areas should equal 12 credit hours.

Health and Wellness (1 Credit)

Students may choose from the following or select courses in consultation with their departmental advisor. Students must work closely with their departmental advisor to select courses appropriate to their transfer institution.
