This curriculum is designed for students who need maximum academic flexibility to meet requirements for transfer or career exploration, or to meet other personal goals. Transferability and applicability of this program depends on courses selected and the transfer program and institution, personal goals and career selected.

This curriculum consists of courses that fulfill the New Mexico General Education Curriculum and a variety of general electives. General education courses are required by all New Mexico public institutions of higher education.  Students must work closely with their transfer institutions and their SFCC advisors to ensure the best transition to four-year schools.

Program Learning Outcomes


Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate analytical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills applicable to real-world problems.
  • Demonstrate a foundation of liberal arts and specific knowledge that supports and encourages further personal and professional development.
  • Use critical and creative thinking skills and strategies to solve complex individual and social problems.

Students can earn the following certificates related to this degree:

General Education Requirements: (32 Credits)


Mathematics (3-7 Credits Min.)


Laboratory Science (4-8 Credits)


The combined total of Mathematics and Laboratory Science should equal a minimum of 10 credits.

Social/Behavioral Sciences (3-6 Credits)


Humanities (3-6 Credits)


Creative and Fine Arts: (3-6 Credits)


The combined total of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Humanities and Creative and Fine Arts should equal 12 credit hours.

Health and Wellness (1 Credit)


Students must, in consultation with their academic advisors, choose discipline areas and course work for their program requirements. Suggested areas of focus include Anthropology, English, Film History, Philosophy and World Languages.
