LEGL 222 - Immigration Law

An exploration of the statutory and regulatory scheme concerning the immigration and naturalization of aliens in the United States. Students will study border control issues, historical origins of U.S. immigration law and current proposals for major reforms of these laws. The unique constitutional status of aliens, important issues of separation of powers and federalism, International and domestic law governing the treatment of refugees will be covered in depth.
