MATT 160 - Introduction to Computer Numeric Control Lathes


Credits: 2

Introduction to the use of a Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Lathe. Students make selected components from prints, the quality of which is verified using methods learned in MATT 113. Topics include safety, machine controls, operation and maintenance of a CNC lathe, RS-274 programming language, conversational programming and project planning. This course satisfies American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) requirements for machinists.

Graded: Letter Grade.
Corequisite(s): MATT 154  and MATT 155 .
Offered: Fall.
One lecture hour, two lab hours.
